New innovations in materials, robotics and manufacturing technology will have a large impact in the near future on earth-based commercial and industrial applications. Similarly, long-term space development demands new materials and the capability to fabricate, repair and replace metallic and non-metallic hardware in space environments. This development will reduce the mass and volume of equipment to be sent to orbit. It will provide the flexibility to improve design flaws on demand.

Historically, new materials have served as the cornerstones for technological advances. In the western world, considerable investment is already flowing into materials design, computation, synthesis and processing. Large markets exist for polymer-based optical devices, optoelectronic materials intended for flat-panel displays and solid-state lighting, and polymer shells for laser fusion targets and controlled release of drugs. Other classes of advanced materials are being developed for sustainable energy sources and nanotechnology.

Our objective is to finance innovative companies that can create entirely new clases of products, and can make them in entirely new ways.
